Owen is Native American, and grew up on the Mesiliko reservation.


In the episode ‘River Dog’, Owen is the person who recognized the symbol on the necklace that Isabel found at Atherthon’s house, and told her it was from the reservation. So logically, at some point, he must have been in Nasedo's cave. Whether he knew about Nasedo and his secret or not remains a mystery.
