He was on traffic enforcement in Santa Fe, NM before he was transferred to Roswell. He mentions that his father was a Sheriff in Las Vegas, NM and was killed in the line of duty.

Pierce uses the cover of Deputy Fisher to gain access to the Roswell Sheriff's Department.

In the episode 'The White Room' Max discovers that Deputy Fisher is actually Daniel Pierce.
