Dan is an old friend of Sheriff Valenti’s.

In the episode ‘To Serve & Protect’, Dan comes to town to investigate the shooting of Everett Hubble by Sheriff Valenti.

He tells Valenti that the State Police Board is watching him, and his own men are starting to question his actions.

Later he shows up just as Valenti, Max and Isabel are rescuing Laurie from the grave where she was buried.
